The world doesn't hate us, what are we doing wrong?

"If the world hates you keep in mind that it hated me first. if you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own." (John 15:18-19)
Last time I checked, the world doesn't hate me. Sometimes I feel like it does but it's not because I'm a Christian but rather because I did something wrong. If Jesus is correct (and he always is), shouldn't the Church and this planet be at odds? Now I've heard of church persecution in places like Asia but I've never experienced it in the United States. What are we doing wrong over here?

That is a good question, Ben. If Jesus means by the "world" that which is against God's holy purposes, I bet you find much of this world's messages are opposed to what you do and how you decide upon important things. And if it hasn't happened yet, there will come times when those around you will clearly be upset with you when you do not go along with them on something they believe is benign but which the Spirit tells you is dangerous.
